  • Day One

Lancashire Second XI fight back on opening day

Lancashire Second XI's bowlers recovered from 281/1 to bowl Gloucestershire out for 360 on Day One of their three day friendly at Rockhampton CC.

The home side made a strong start as openers George Hankins and Chris Dent (71) put on 163 for the first wicket.

When Dent was run out by Rob Jones, James Bracey (53) came to the crease and the pair added a further 118.

Lancashire fought back with the score on 281/1, taking three wickets for no score as Jack Morley (1/60) and Danny Lamb (3/61) made inroads, before Karl Brown run out Hankins for 132.

The Red Rose ripped through the middle order with Liam Hurt (3/68) and Jones (1/19) dismissing Gloucestershire for 360.

The visitors had a tricky 15 over session to survive with the bat in the evening session and lost Haseeb Hameed for just five.

Brown (49*) and Jones (8*) guided Lancashire through to the close on 79/1 - trailing by 281 first innings runs.

  • Day Two

Lancashire Second XI build first innings lead

Rob Jones hit an unbeaten double century and Karl Brown a century as the pair put on 252 for the second wicket as Lancashire built a huge lead on Day Two of their Second XI friendly against Gloucestershire.

Lancashire resumed on 79/1, trailing by 281 runs - with Jones and Brown together at the crease.

Brown went past 50 early on and the Red Rose never looked back as the pair piled on the runs.

By the time lunch arrived, the score had move onto 269/1 with Brown beyond three figures and Jones 99 not out.

Jones brought up his century immediately after the interval and the second wicket stand soon moved past 250.

When Brown was eventually dismissed for 146, Brooke Guest joined Jones at the crease and the runs continued to flow.

Lancashire moved ahead of Gloucestershire's 360 as Jones brought up his 150.

Guest was bowled by Oliver Currill for 75, but that only brought in the in-form Josh Bohannon, who added a quickfire 42 from 38 balls.

As the day which was dominated by Lancashire moved towards its conclusion, Jones brought up his double hundred, an outstanding effort from the 22-year-old.

The Red Rose ended the day on 593/5 from just 119 overs, with a lead of 233 and Jones unbeaten on 221 heading into the final day.
