Lancashire Cricket Academy start season with a win
Lancashire’s Academy side kicked off their 2018 campaign in style with a 65 run victory over Durham at Northern Cricket Club on Thursday.
Asked to bat first, Lancashire opener Jamie Crawley struck an invaluable 81 off 129 balls, to set his side on their way to 210/8 from 50 overs.
Crawley was well supported by Ed Fluck (25) and Sam Perry (34) with the pair putting on 98 for the fourth wicket.
Jack Morley and Louis Botes added quick runs at the back end of the innings, taking the total beyond 200.
Durham started the chase well as Tom Hewitsson (28) and Solomon Bell (29) moved the score to 57/1.
However, Lancashire bowlers Morley and Muhammad Ahmad took three wickets each, aided by Ben Gibbon (1/25) to reduce the visitors to 114/8.
Botes (2/17) and George Balderson (1/22) took the remaining wickets as Lancashire completed a convincing victory, despite late resistance from Dowson (29*), bowling Durham out for 137.
The Academy are back in action on Thursday 10 May, when they take on Warwickshire at Neston Cricket Club.
