Trafford Live and All Stars Cricket success at Emirates Old Trafford

Trafford Live and All Stars Cricket success at Emirates Old Trafford

Lancashire Lightning’s Vitality Blast fixture against Northants Steelbacks in the Vitality Blast attracted a crowd of over 9,000 at Emirates Old Trafford as the Club teamed up with Trafford Council.

Trafford Council’s ‘Trafford Live’ event was hosted at the Trafford Town Hall on the morning of the game whilst half priced adult tickets were offered to Trafford residents. The free community festival showcased the Borough’s sport, history and culture offering which was held within the grounds of the Town Hall on Talbot Road and the Foster’s Fan Village at Emirates Old Trafford.

There were a number of fun events and activities happening access both sites throughout the day, starting at 11am ahead of Lancashire Lightning’s Vitality Blast clash against Northants Steelbacks in the Vitality Blast which started at 2:30pm.

Emirates Old Trafford also welcomed over 1,000 children from the All Stars Cricket programme, most of which are new to the game, for Sunday’s match. Any child who signed up to the All Star Cricket initiative in Lancashire, Cheshire and Cumbria was given free access to the game with a half priced adult ticket.

Supporters then saw Lancashire Lightning pick up their second win in three days with Northants being restricted to 123/9 with Matt Parkinson, Stephen Parry and Liam Livingstone all taking two wickets apiece.

Alex Davies hit an unbeaten 64 to see Lancashire home who now have two wins out of three.

Daniel Gidney, Lancashire Cricket Chief Executive, said: “It was great to see over 9,000 in attendance for Sunday’s Vitality Blast fixture at Emirates Old Trafford. The collaboration with Trafford Live event across the road was unique and it’s testament to the excellent working relationship we have with Trafford Council.

“The half priced ticket offer for Trafford residents was popular and we hope to see them, and all the other first-timers through the All Stars Cricket initiative, we had on Sunday, to another Vitality Blast fixture at Emirates Old Trafford again this summer.

“As a Club, we’re working hard to attract new audiences to the game of cricket and we see the Vitality Blast as the best format for this. We've got five more home T20 matches this season with our Bails and Ales Drinks Festival this weekend before the Roses clash next Friday against Yorkshire, of which tickets are now very limited."
