Josh Bohannon Named Men’s Vice Captain
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce Josh Bohannon’s appointment as the Club’s new men’s vice captain.
The 26-year-old top-order batter Bohannon becomes Keaton Jennings’ deputy with immediate effect ahead of the 2024 season, with the Club currently out in Bangalore on pre-season tour.
Bohannon finished last season as the leading run scorer in County Championship Division One and then captained England Lions during their winter tour of India.
Born in Bolton, Bohannon first pulled on a Lancashire shirt at Under 13s level in 2010 before joining the Academy and making his senior debut for the Club in all three formats during the 2018 season.
Bohannon has since made 127 appearances for the Red Rose county and signed a new long-term contract with the Club in November.
Josh Bohannon said: “It’s a massive honour to be named vice captain and it is something that I am really looking forward to getting stuck into. Lancashire is my home Club and it’s a really proud moment for me and for my family.
“I am looking forward to being able to offer more support to Keaton, Dale, our support staff and to become a real leader within the group.
“I believe that the experiences I gained during the winter with the Lions has set me in good stead for what is to come.”
Keaton Jennings also commented: “I am really pleased to confirm Josh’s appointment as vice captain. He is really deserving of this appointment after working hard on both his game and leadership skills during the last few seasons.
“We have already been working closely together for an extended period of time now and it was really pleasing that following his appointment as Head Coach, Dale agreed with my thoughts that Josh should be appointed vice captain, and now we can make it official.
“I have witnessed first-hand his abilities as a leader during the England Lions tour earlier this year and I have no doubts that Josh will be able to step into the role comfortably if and when required.”
