Disappointing day for Lancashire Cricket Women
Lancashire Women were beaten by both Sussex and Warwickshire during two T20 matches at the Edgbaston Foundation Ground yesterday.
Eve Jones lost the toss and the Red Rose were asked to bat by Sussex, in the first game of the day.
The visitors never got going and struggled to an under par total of 109/6 from their 20 overs, with only Ellie Threlkeld 41* making a score of note.
Despite an early Kate Cross wicket, Sussex never looked like faltering in their run chase, completing an eight wicket win in the 16th over.
Jones once again lost the toss in the second match, but this time Lancashire were asked to bowl first and restricted their hosts to just 126/4 from 20 overs.
Laura Jackson was the pick of the Lancashire bowlers, taking one for 13 from her four overs.
However the Red Rose made a slow start with the bat and couldn't recover from 38/4, eventually finishing 26 runs short of their target despite Nalisha Patel's 25 from 24 balls at the back end of the innings.
Eve Jones side currently sit in mid-table of the ECB Women's T20 Championship, with three victories and three defeats from their six matches played so far.
