Lancashire II Lancs
Middlesex II Mid

Lancashire lost by 5 wickets

Lancashire lost by 5 wickets

Lancashire’s Second XI crashed out of the Second XI Trophy after a rain affected day at Blackpool CC.

Current holders Lancashire were looking to secure back-to-back titles for the first time since 2012/2013, however a solid batting display from White helped Middlesex record a 5-wicket victory over the Red Rose in the semi-final of the 50-over competition.

Lancashire, who lost the toss and were elected to bat struggled to find their rhythm and their late collapse saw them go from 93-4 in the 18th over, to 128-9 in the 25th.

Karl Brown (44) was Lancashire’s most prolific batsman, but he was caught in the 19th over by Sowter which led to a steady collapse of wickets for the Red Rose.

White (54) was the star man for Middlesex who came in at number four, but managed to withstand the bowling attack from Lancashire to see his side reach 131 and claim the victory with two overs remaining.
