Second XI Report - Lancashire lost by 5 wickets
Lancashire Second XI were beaten by Nottinghamshire yesterday in a rain-affected three-day Championship clash.
Notts won the toss and elected to bowl first on the opening day. Karl Brown was dismissed early but Calum Turner and Rob Jones put on 50 for the second wicket.
Turner (24) and Josh Bohannon (13) were dismissed but Jones went on to his half century for Lancashire.
He was well supported by Brooke Guest as the pair put on 64 for the fourth wicket before Jones was stumped off the bowling of Marshall to leave Lancashire 144/4.
Guest went on to his half century and was well supported by Arron Lilley (25) and Toby Lester (27*) as Lancashire declared on 280/8. Guest finished on 96 not out.
Both sides forfeited an innings due to the poor weather with Nottinghamshire set 281 to win on the final day.
Lancashire made the perfect start with three wickets falling in the opening 15 overs with Liam Hurt, Danny Lamb and Lester all striking to leave Nottinghamshire 59/3.
Experienced first team batsman Brendan Taylor came to the wicket for the hosts and played freely from the outset.
Lester and Lamb both took their second wickets to leave Nottinghamshire 173/5 with the game in the balance but Taylor (104*) and Marshall (64*) took the game away from Lancashire with the hosts cruising to a five wicket win.
