Coaching Trio Rewarded With Contract Extensions
LANCASHIRE COUNTY Cricket Club is delighted to confirm that its Cricket Director and Head Coach Ashley Giles and coaches Glen Chapple and Mark Chilton have extended their contracts with the Club.
During what was the first season for the new look coaching set-up at Emirates Old Trafford, the Red Rose made an immediate return to the top flight of the Specsavers County Championship and ended their silverware drought by winning the NatWest T20 Blast trophy for the first time in their history.
The new deals will see the coaching triumvirate commit themselves to Lancashire until the end of the 2018 campaign.
Giles took charge of the county towards the end of 2014 and made an immediate impact as Lancashire bounced back from the disappointment of the previous campaign.
Chapple, who is just 15 scalps away from a first-class wickets haul of 1,000, and Chilton, who amassed over 9,500 first class runs before retiring, have played in over 500 first class matches between them for the Red Rose.
They both came up through the Club’s junior ranks, went on to captain the side and starred in County Championship title success in 2011.
Giles said: “I'm delighted that we've been offered the opportunity to commit our futures to the Club until the end of 2018.
“I've thoroughly enjoyed my first 18 months at Lancashire and feel extremely lucky to have such a strong coaching team around me.
“We still have a lot of work to do with this young and exciting group of players and we all look forward to bringing future success to the Club."
