Griffiths and Jones star on opening day for Second XI
Lancashire fast bowler Gavin Griffiths took four wickets on the opening day of the Second XI's three-day Championship fixture against Nottinghamshire at Liverpool CC.
Red Rose Captain Stephen Parry won the toss, elected to field and Lancashire made the perfect start taking three quick wickets as the visitors were reduced to 33/3.
Nathan Buck struck twice, whilst Toby Lester dismissed Sam Wood and then Griffiths took his first of the day as Hodgson was caught behind. Tom Moore and Dan Brown came in and stabilised the innings for Nottinghamshire.
Both batsmen hit half centuries but Griffiths took the wicket of Moores, clean bowled.
Toby Lester picked up the wicket of Marshall before Parkinson dismissed Kit as the visitors were bowled out for 204 from 63 overs.
Griffiths (4/34), Parkinson (2/15), Toby Lester (2/36) and Nathan Buck (2/39) all impressed with the ball.
In reply, Lancashire lost Luis Reece (15) and Tom Smith (6) cheaply at the top of the order but Rob Jones and Jordan Clark stabilised the innings.
Clark (27) and Brooke Guest (18) were dismissed but Jones continued to play freely for Lancashire finishing the day 76 not out.
The Red Rose will resume tomorrow 154/4, 49 runs behind the visitors.
