Parkinson takes five wickets for Second XI on Day 1
Lancashire spinner Matthew Parkinson took five wickets on the opening day as Worcestershire closed 253/9 at the close of this Second XI three-day Championship clash.
Worcestershire won the toss and elected to bat first, but it was Tom Bailey, on his return from injury, that made the perfect start dismissing opening batsman Fraine (4) cheaply.
Toby Lester then took the wicket of Hepburn before Parkinson took his first of the day as Worcestershire were reduced to 80/3.
Milton (53) and Newton (56*) provided some resistance to the strong Lancashire bowling attack but Worcestershire collapsed from 180/4 to 216/8 as Parkinson claimed figures of 5/67 from 28 overs.
The hosts finished the opening day on 253/9 and Lancashire will be hoping to claim the last wicket early on the Second Day.
