Sophie Ecclestone makes England debut in Bristol

Lancashire Thunder spinner Sophie Ecclestone made her England debut yesterday as Heather Knight's side beat Pakistan in the IT20 in Bristol on Sunday.

England won the toss, elected to bat first and the hosts piled on the runs, hitting 187/5 with Tammy Beaumont (82) and Loz Winfield (74) impressing.

In the reply, 17 year-old, Ecclestone impressed taking 1/21 from her four overs before Pakistan ended 119-7, with Dani Hazell, Jenny Gunn and Nat Sciver each taking two wickets.

England coach Mark Robinson said: "Sophie brings youth, vitality and another left-arm spin option."

Kate Cross had been left out to undertake some "focused technical work", according to England Head Coach Mark Robinson.
