Stephen Parry stars in Second XI victory
Stephen Parry starred with the bat and ball on the second and ultimately final day of Lancashire Second XI's Championship fixture against Nottinghamshire as the Red Rose concluded a comprehensive victory by nine wickets.
Rob Jones (76) didn't add to his overnight score but Parry (47) came to the crease and played freely throughout his innings.
Arron Lilley (10) was dismissed cheaply but Nathan Buck hit a half century including five boundaries and a maximum as the Red Rose were bowled out for 271, a first innings lead of 67.
In reply, Toby Lester made the perfect start dismissing Sam Wood (11) with Nathan Buck taking the catch. Ben Curran (brother of Tom and Sam at Surrey) came in and played nicely for the visitors alongside Will Root (brother of Joe!) as the pair put on 74 for the second wicket.
Jordan Clark dismissed Curran (42) and then Stephen Parry came into the attack and changed the game.
His first wicket was the key one of Root (32) and he followed that up with the dismissals of Hodgson and Moores as Nottinghamshire were reduced to 115/5.
Arron Lilley then took the wicket of Brown (3) before Parry came and took three out of the last four wickets with Lilley also striking again.
The visitors were bowled out for 156 in 50 overs and Lancashire required just 92 for victory.
Tom Smith (20) and Luis Reece (33*) made a positive start before the former was dismissed by Marshall. Rob Jones came in and played aggressively from the outset as he continued his excellent form from the first innings.
Jones has also been in good form for his Club side, hitting three centuries in a row for Toft Cricket Club.
He hit an unbeaten 37 from just 21 balls which included four boundaries and three sixes as Lancashire cruised to 93/1 and completed an impressive nine wicket victory over Nottinghamshire inside two days.
