Wickets tumble in Second XI clash on Day 2
Eighteen wickets fell on the second day of Lancashire Second XI's three-day Championship clash against Durham today.
Durham started the day 23/0 and Lancashire soon started to make in-roads into their batting line-up. Jordan Clark took the wicket of former Lancashire loanee Phil Mustard before Saqib Mahmood removed fellow opener Hickey soon after.
Mahmood took his second as Durham were reduced to 87/3 before Toby Lester and Nathan Buck joined in on the act, leaving the hosts in trouble at 121/5.
Paul Coughlin (56) played nicely for Durham hitting a controlled half century for his side but he soon fell as well, this time to Danny Lamb with Calum Turner taking a safe catch.
The tail was swiftly removed by Saqib Mahmood who finished with figures of 4/39.
Lancashire lead by 143 but their second innings started in the worst possible fashion for Mark Chilton's side. Durham reduced Lancashire to 34/4 and then 80/8 before Stephen Parry (58*) and Toby Lester (24*) scored valuable runs in the final hour of the day.
The visitors ended the day on 159/8, a lead of 304 going into the final day.
