Alex Davies hits century but Academy lose
Alex Davies hit a century in his first match since last year's knee injury but Lancashire's Academy were beaten by P J Hindu Gymkhana in a 45 over fixture yesterday in their opening game of the ten day tour to Mumbai.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first with the opening pair putting on 61 before Rehan Udwadia made the breakthrough for Lancashire.
Lancashire's first team spinner Simon Kerrigan, selected alongside Alex Davies to give the pair some match practice ahead of the 2017 season, took two wickets in two balls with the hosts on 86/3.
The home side went on to hit 312/5 from their 45 overs.
Alex Davies opened the batting for Lancashire and went on to hit a stunning century off just 75 balls in his first match since returning from knee injury.
Fellow opening batsman Sam Oldham (70* retired) also impressed before Ed Fluck (34) and George Lavelle (25) made useful contributions but the Red Rose middle order lost wickets in quick succession.
Lancashire finished their 45 overs on 276/7 and were beaten by 36 runs.
