Bailey and Davies star on opening day for Second XI
Second XI Report
Lancashire Second XI will have eyes on taking a first innings lead after they bowled Durham out for 201 on a shortened first day at Todmorden.
The Red Rose reached 76-2 in reply before bad light ended play early in the Pennines.
SCORECARD
Alex Davies asked Durham to bat after winning the toss, and his decision paid off well when the Lancashire attack reduced the visitors to 9-3. Josh Bohannon held two catches in quick succession to give Tom Bailey half of his eventual four-wicket haul, and Toby Lester claimed the scalp of top scorer Scott Steel for 42 when he had the Durham opener caught behind.
Only a spirited last wicket stand took the north-east side over 200, former England seamer Graham Onions hitting a quick 20 not out before George Harding was last man out to give Liam Hurt figures of 3-30.
Davies and Haseeb Hameed pushed Lancashire’s reply on to 37 before Hameed was trapped in front by Usman Arshad for 19. Rob Jones fell quickly, but Davies played confidently and struck two sixes to end the day on 48 not out with Shiv Chanderpaul poised to resume their partnership on Tuesday.
