Bailey takes five on opening day at Liverpool
Tom Bailey’s five-wicket haul helped Lancashire Second XI drag themselves back into their friendly against Middlesex on day one at Aigburth.
The visitors subsided from 260-4 to 305 all out, with Bailey getting in amongst Middlesex’s tail to finish with figures of 5-42. The Red Rose negotiated a tricky four overs at the end of the day to finish on 13 without loss.
SCORECARD
Lancashire started well and reduced Middlesex to 37-2, but a lengthy partnership between George Scott and Robbie White gave the home attack a stern test. Scott was eventually trapped in front by Bradley Woolley for 84, and White was sixth man out when he fell for 102, caught by Arron Lilley off Sam Oldham.
Bailey then got stuck into the away side’s late order batsmen, taking the last four wickets to fall to return with a well-deserved five-for. Lancs will resume with Calum Turner and Taylor Cornall at the crease on Tuesday morning.
