Brown and Croft impress on Day 2 vs Yorkshire

Brown and Croft vs Yorkshire CCC

Karl Brown (74) and Steven Croft (70) both hit impressive half centuries for Lancashire on the final day of the Club’s pre-season tour to Dubai.

Lancashire, who restricted Yorkshire to 235/7 on Day One opened the batting with Karl Brown and Rob Jones, after Luke Procter was ruled out due to a calf strain.

Yorkshire made an early breakthrough as Jones (4) was caught behind off the bowling of Karl Coad to leave Lancashire 5/1 in the fifth over.

That wicket brought Scholarship player Josh Bohannon to the crease but the 19 year-old was dismissed in the same fashion to leave Lancashire struggling on 17/2 in the eleventh over.

Brown and Croft found runs hard to come by on a particularly slow wicket at the ICC Academy.

They soon found their rhythm with both batsman crunching boundaries off Joshua Shaw.

Brown reached his half century before Captain Croft brought his half century with a maximum off the bowling of Yorkshire spinner Rafiq.

Croft went on to hit four maximums in his 141-ball innings.

Raqiq soon got his revenge by taking two wickets in quick succession. Firstly, Brown was trapped LBW before Croft was bowled to leave Lancashire 151/5.

Clark (1) was next in but he was dismissed by Tim Bresnan which brought Brooke Guest and Alex Davies to the crease.

Both players played positively from the outset but were dismissed late on, both hitting 43 as Lancashire hit 240/7 on the second day from 93 overs.

Lancashire travel back to England tomorrow ahead of Sunday’s clash against Cambridge MCCU at Fenner’s.
