Brown and Parkinson impress in T20 outings
Lancashire Second XI won one and lost one against Northants in a T20 double header yesterday at Wantage Road.
Game One - Scorecard
In the opening game, Northants made a fast start with openers Levi and Thurston putting on a quick-fire 30 before the former was forced to retire in the second over. Kyle Jarvis and Saqib Mahmood then struck in quick succession to leave Northants 30/2 before Ryan McLaren took his first wicket.
Arron Lilley was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/17 from his four overs as Northants were restricted to 120/6 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Karl Brown was dismissed cheaply before Liam Livingstone and Lilley started playing their shots.
Lilley hit 25 off 16 balls before being bowled with Alex Davies coming in a four. The Lancashire wicket keeper played aggressively and whilst Livingstone was dismissed for 41, Lancashire cruised to a seven wicket victory
Game Two - Scorecard
In the second game, Lancashire batting first, made a positive start. Karl Brown and Arron Lilley opened the batting and the pair put on 58 for the first wicket before the latter departed.
Croft came in at three and hit 24 but it was Karl Brown that gave the Lancashire total some inputus with a brilliant 70-ball century.
Lancashire posted 161/3 from 20 overs.
In reply, Northants made a rapid start with their openers putting on 68 in the first six overs.
Matt Parkinson took two wickets in two balls to stall the Northants innings. Parkinson took two further wickets as well as one from Captain Steven Croft with Northants 101/5 in the 13th over.
Cox (33) and Bilal (16*) gave the Northants innings some late imputus and despite a couple of late run outs, the hosts completed a narrow two wicket win with a ball remaining.
Parkinson impressed with the ball taking 4/18 from his four overs.
Lancashire Lightning vs Leicestershire Foxes
Lancashire Lightning will face Leicestershire Foxes on Sunday 9 July 2017 in the NatWest T20 Blast at Liverpool CC.
Lancashire will look to replicate their winning form against Leicestershire after defeating the Foxes at Emirates Old Trafford in 2016 by nine wickets - with Jos Buttler and Steven Croft starring for the Red Rose.
Tickets start from £25 for adults and £5 for juniors.
