Brown hits century for Second XI on opening day
Karl Brown hit his second century in a week for Lancashire Second XI against Hampshire yesterday.
Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat first at the Ageas Bowl with Brown and Rob Jones opening the batting for the visitors.
The opening pair put on 27 before Jones was the first batsman dismissed by the returning Reece Topley for Hampshire. Calum Turner joined Brown at the crease and both played nicely putting on 79 for the second wicket, leaving Lancashire 129/2 just after lunch.
Brown continued to play nicely and brought up his half century but wickets continued to fall around him. Josh Bohannon (10), Brooke Guest (15), George Lavelle (0) and Danny Lamb (5) were all dismissed in the afternoon session with Lancashire on 184/6.
Arron Lilley (39) came in and played nicely for Lancashire with 77 for the seventh wicket. Brown (137) went to his century and was finally dismissed after a 207 ball innings, hitting 13 boundaries and four maximums along the way.
Lancashire were bowled out for 297 from 80 overs on the opening day.
In Hampshire's reply, Danny Lamb made the perfect start for the visitors, bowling Duggan (3) cheaply and Hampshire played out the rest of the day unscathed.
