Chapple happy with squad ahead of NatWest T20 Blast
Lancashire are in confident mood ahead of the Blast, despite the loss of key signing Mahela Jayawardene, who will no longer be coming to Emirates Old Trafford due to personal reasons.
Head Coach Glen Chapple is happy with the makeup of his squad and is unlikely to search for a replacement, especially with England's Jos Buttler available for selection after missing out on a place in the Three Lions Test squad to face South Africa.
“Mahela was always signed for who he was, his particular talents, experience and skill at the top of the order,” said Chapple.
“It was always going to mean that somebody who was worth a place was going to miss out.
“It was never going to be an easy team to pick. On reflection, at the moment, I’m really happy with the players we have.
“If we don’t suffer any further losses, I’m pretty happy with the squad.”
Their opening Blast match is against Durham Jets at Emirates Riverside next Friday, starting at 6.30pm before the first home fixture against Leicestershire Foxes at Liverpool CC on Sunday 9th July. Tickets are still available for this fixture and can be purchased here.
Chapple will have Liam Livingstone available after Lions duty. He was available for the first two days at Edgbaston, but a mutual decision was taken that he needed a rest.
Lancashire Lightning vs Leicestershire Foxes
Lancashire Lightning will face Leicestershire Foxes on Sunday 9 July 2017 in the NatWest T20 Blast at Liverpool CC.
Lancashire will look to replicate their winning form against Leicestershire after defeating the Foxes at Emirates Old Trafford in 2016 by nine wickets - with Jos Buttler and Steven Croft starring for the Red Rose.
Tickets start from £25 for adults and £5 for juniors.
