England seal series after Joe Root heroics
England completed a series whitewash against Ireland, who were making their first ever appearance at Lord’s, with an 85 run victory over the visitors.
Joe Root (73) was England’s star man who combined with captain Eoin Morgan (76) to a 140 run partnership – helping the Three Lions to a total of 328-6.
England’s new Test captain also put in a strong bowling performance, with three wickets for 52 runs which saw the visitors all out for 243.
