Anderson v Steyn: Who’s the greatest?

Anderson v Steyn: Who’s the greatest?

VOTE: Who is the best bowler - Anderson or Steyn?

As we look ahead to welcoming England and South Africa to Emirates Old Trafford for the Fourth Investec Test Match, we would like to know who you think is the best bowler – James Anderson or Dale Steyn.

James Anderson

Born in Burnley, Lancashire, James Anderson is arguably one of the best swing bowlers of his generation – perhaps of all time, and is the current all time leading Test wicket taker for the Three Lions.

Jimmy made his international debut back in 2002 during a One-Day International against Australia in Melbourne. However it wasn’t until the 2003 World Cup game against Pakistan when he truly announced his arrival on the international stage – taking four wickets and receiving the player of the match award.

Since his international debut, Jimmy has taken over 750 wickets for England (467 in Test cricket) in just 335 games. A remarkable achievement which will live long in the history books of English cricket.

Dale Steyn

Widely regarded as one of the best fast bowlers of all time, Dale Steyn is one of South Africa’s most devastating weapons.

Making his Test debut against England back in 2004, Steyn has amassed an incredible 417 wickets in just 85 Test Matches for South Africa. His ability to maintain a pace of over 140kmph has made him one of the most fearsome bowlers in world cricket with the best bowling strike rate of all time in Test cricket.

Dale Steyn continues to grow in stature on the world stage and debate surrounds his position as a potential all time great.
