Jones hits century in Second XI friendly win

Jones hits century in Second XI friendly win

Second XI Report

Rob Jones (119) and Josh Bohannon (56 & 3/29) starred for Lancashire Second XI in a 50 over friendly victory against Cheshire at Chester Broughton Hall Cricket Club yesterday.

Simon Kerrigan won the toss for the visitors and elected to bat first but early wickets fell with Karl Brown, Luke Procter, Calum Turner and Liam Livingstone all being dismissed cheaply to lease Lancashire struggling on 52/4.

Josh Bohannon joined Rob Jones at the crease for Lancashire and the pair rebuilt the innings nicely. Both players reach their half centuries before Jones started to kick on against the Cheshire bowling attack.

SCORECARD

The pair put on 104 for the fifth wicket before Bohannon (56) was dismissed by Williams. Danny Lamb (20) and Simon Kerrigan (26) contributed important lower order runs as Jones went to his century at less than a run a ball.

Jones was bowled by former Lancashire bowler Wayne White for 119 off just 113 balls including eleven boundaries and three maximums as Lancashire were bowled out for 278 after 49.1 overs.

In reply, Cheshire started positively until Danny Lamb took the opening wicket, bowling Moore for 13. Dobson was next to go for the hosts as Kerrigan took his first of the day.

Goodwin played aggressively hitting four boundaries and two sixes but he was dismissed, again by Kerrigan to leave the hosts 83/3 in the 17th over.

White and Dixon put on 58 for the fourth wicket and the pair got Cheshire back in the game but Josh Bohannan made an important breakthrough of the former. The Scholarship player dismissed White and the Cheshire innings crumbled.

The hosts went from 141/3 to 216 all out with Bohannon taking 3/29, Arron Lilley 2/33, Simon Kerrigan 2/17 and Danny Lamb 2/48.
