Jones impresses on opening day vs Yorkshire

Second XI Report

Lancashire Second XI were bowled out for 350 on the opening day of the three-day Championship fixture against Yorkshire at Scarborough yesterday.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first, but lost two early wickets in the form of Karl Brown and Calum Turner to leave Lancashire 14/2.

Rob Jones was joined by Luke Procter and the pair set about rebuilding the innings for Lancashire.

Both players reached their half centuries, bringing up the 100 partnership on the way before Procter (63) was dismissed.

Brooke Guest and Jones (93) put on 59 for the fourth wicket before the latter was dismissed, just seven runs short of his century to leave Lancashire 201/4.

Guest (67) went to his half century and was well supported by Danny Lamb (25) and Arron Lilley (32) before Toby Lester (18*) and Matthew Parkinson (13) added useful lower order runs.
