Academy beat Shropshire in style
Game One – Lancashire won by 71 runs
Lancashire Academy won the first of their two T20 games against Shropshire in style with an emphatic 71 run victory, as Ed Fluck scored an incredible century off just 37 balls and was the star man for the Red Rose.
Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat first with Lavelle and Dobson opening the batting.
Although both batsmen struggled to find their rhythm in the opening stages with Lavelle and Dobson dismissed by Kearney with the Red Rose on 53-2.
However Fluck and Perry’s partnership saw Lancashire reach 173 before the next wicket was taken.
Lancashire finished their innings on 229-3, with their bowling attack also proving too strong for the hosts as Shropshire could only manage 158 – 71 runs behind the Red Rose.
Game Two – Lancashire won by nine-wickets
Lancashire continued their dominance into the second game with a nine-wicket victory against Shropshire.
This time Shropshire won the toss and elected to bat.
Only three batsmen for the hosts managed to reach double figures – Chandler (19), Clarke (32) and Morris (27) with Lancashire’s bowling ability once again proving too strong for Shropshire.
Ahmad (3) and Hartley (2) were outstanding for the Red Rose and limited Shropshire’s opportunity to score runs who finished their innings on 110.
It only took Lancashire 12 overs to claim a nine-wicket victory over the hosts with Oldham (68) reaching his half-century.
