The Academy squad will meet up for the first time as a group, with training taking place on Monday 6th November in the Trafford Cricket Centre at Emirates Old Trafford. The squad will then meet up twice a week before Christmas, increasing to three sessions a week in the New Year.

The squad will undergo fitness testing with Lancashire’s Strength and Conditioning Coach Tom Webster as well as medicals with the Club’s doctors.

First team assistant coach Mark Chilton, second team head coach Chris Benbow and performance manager Stephen Titchard are all part of the academy winter support staff. It is also hoped that in the new year former Lancashire player Tom Smith will be working with the Academy. Current professionals Graham Onions and Steven Croft will also assist with coaching sessions with our most talented players throughout the winter.

Academy Director, Gary Yates said, “To maximise the chances of an Academy player reaching the top it's very important that our programme is tailored to what each individual needs. Moving forward the players have to deal with high competition, working outside of their comfort zones and constantly being challenged.

“Our role is to set up difficult scenarios and support the players throughout the process. The reward is that the individual will develop both as a leader of himself and other team mates. With continued development we hope many of the players will have opportunity to play for the 2nd Xl next season."

"We have selected players from 16-19 years old who have performed and progressed over the last 12 months. There are 8 players currently selected onto this year’s Academy including three new players.  I am hoping a couple more players from our EPP senior and skill set groups can prove themselves this winter and be added to the Academy."
