Lancashire Second XI book semi-final spot

Lancashire Second XI book semi-final spot

Lancashire have booked their place in the Second XI Trophy semi-final after beating Worcestershire by one wicket earlier this week at Neston CC.

The Red Rose side, led by coach Chris Benbow, will play Middlesex next Friday (2 June) at Blackpool CC, starting at 11am.

Lancashire have had an impressive and unbeaten campaign so far in the Second XI trophy, winning five matches out of six in the group stages, whilst the clash against Yorkshire was abandoned at Headingley in April due to snow.

Benbow’s side are the holders of the trophy after beating Somerset at Emirates Old Trafford last year and have reached the Second XI Trophy final seven times in the last eight seasons. Lancashire have won the competition four times following previous triumphs in 1990, 2012, 2013 and 2016.

Meanwhile, the other semi-final will be played between Somerset and Yorkshire at Taunton on the same day.

As always, entry to Second XI games is free of charge to 2017 Lancashire Members. For those unable to attend, a live-stream of the game will be available to watch on lccc.co.uk.

A full match day guide will be provided to Members early next week with further details around parking and facilities available at the ground.
