Liam Livingstone was delighted to score his maiden List A century - a blistering 129 from 83 balls - for England Lions against South Africa A.

But the 23-year-old was quick to hand the praise around the team after the Lions' 144-run victory secured a decisive 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

"It was a very good all-round team performance," he said. "Batting first after losing the toss, it was a great effort to get 350 on the board and then our bowlers did well to put them under pressure and take early wickets which put them behind the eight-ball.

"The guys bowled really well with the new ball. Then they had a little partnership but once we broke that Liam Dawson came on and bowled really well. We took wickets at regular intervals from then on so it was a very good bowling effort.

"With the bat we always try to put the opposition under pressure. We lost a couple of early wickets but rode that out and set it up to go quite hard at the back end and we finished it off quite well.

"It is very pleasing to score my maiden List A century - I think it's been a long time coming. I've not been in the greatest nick for the last few weeks but it was nice to get a few out of the middle of the bat and get my first 100 at an important time for the team as well.

"Sometimes you have got to take a few early risks to get yourself going while the field is up. Sometimes they come off, sometimes they don't - that's the way cricket goes."

Livingstone century, added to two wickets with his spin-bowling, did no harm at all to his credentials for a call-up to the senior England squad. But the Lancashire all-rounder insists that for now the only objective is to help the team complete a clean sweep with another victory over South Africa A on Monday, under the Northampton lights.

"Everyone is trying to put in as good performance for the team as they can," he said. "I'm just trying to be as consistent as I can and see what happens from there.

"The biggest thing now is to go again on Monday and win the series 3-0. We can't just let up because we have won the series. We've got to put in a similar performance on Monday and hopefully make it 3-0."
