Opening day against Essex washed away by rain
The opening day of this top of the table Specsavers County Championship match against Essex was abandoned without a bowl bowled.
A prolonged period of heavy rain that started in the early hours resulted in several large pools of water forming across the covers and the outfield.
The umpires made an inspection once the rain stopped at 12.30pm but had little choice given the very wet conditions they encountered with play called off at 12.45pm.
Hopefully better conditions await us tomorrow with play scheduled to start at 10.30am.
The Club will be holding a Members’ Forum at 5pm today in the Pavilion Long Room after play on Day One was abandoned at Emirates Old Trafford against Essex in the Specsavers County Championship.
