Procter impresses on opening day in Dubai
Luke Procter top scored for Lancashire on Day One of the Club's first game of 2017 as the Red Rose were bowled out againsT the UAE at the ICC Academy.
Before the game, it was agreed that Lancashire would bat first on Day One, with the UAE batting on Sunday.
Rob Jones and Luke Procter opened the batting for the visitors and the UAE made the perfect start by taking three early wickets.
Jones (0) was caught behind off the bowling of Muhammad Naveed before Karl Brown, batting at three, was dismissed just minutes later.
Jordan Clark (10) hit two early boundaries but was then bowled by Abdul Qadeer which left Lancashire struggling on 15/3 in the sixth over.
Lancashire started to rebuild their innings as all-rounder Danny Lamb joined opener Luke Procter in the middle.
The pair played watchfully and made it to lunch with the score at 70/3.
Lamb played nicely, hitting five boundaries in his innings from 84 balls, but was caught well by Mufti off the bowling of Naveed, who claimed his second Lancashire victim of the day.
Procter brought up his half century with a boundary but Lancashire lost two wickets in quick time as Josh Bohannon (2) and Brooke Guest (4) were dismissed to leave Chapple’s side in trouble on 115/6.
Stephen Parry and Tom Bailey came to the crease and the pair played in positive fashion as Lancashire looked to counter-attack.
Parry, (40) particularly impressed but Lancashire were bowled out for 204 after an effective bowling display by the UAE in the heat of Dubai.
Lancashire then went back into bat for the final eight overs of the day. Rob Jones was trapped LBW as the visitors finished the day on 9/1.
The UAE will bat on Sunday with a changed Lancashire side as the squad's bowlers look to maximise their game time ahead of the start to the season.
