REACTION: Surrey CCC v Lancashire CCC Day One

Check out reaction following Day One of Lancashire’s second Specsavers County Championship fixture against Surrey CCC at the Kia Oval.

Lancashire, who had a difficult start to the day managed to fight their way back into the tie with Jordan Clark and Shivnarine Chanderpaul helping the Red Rose recover from 56-3 to 294-6.

Lancashire CCC all-rounder, Jordan Clark

Lancashire's century-maker Jordan Clark said:"It's an unbelievable feeling to get my maiden first-class hundred and it will be even better if we can dig in again tomorrow.

"There is a new ball due and still a lot of work to do, but it's been a brilliant day and of course it was a perfect way to get to the hundred with that six.

"I was expecting a short ball, actually, after hitting the four through the covers, and to be able to hit it for six was great!

"The pitch flattened out a bit after being tough early on against the new ball. I was fortunate to get some loose stuff and that helped me along. This innings is massive for me and I want to cement my place in the championship team by being as consistent as I can with both bat and ball."

Surrey CCC Head Coach, Michael Di Venuto

Surrey head coach Michael Di Venuto said:"Clark played an exceptional innings and Chanderpaul just played like Shiv does! We made an excellent start with the ball on what is an excellent pitch, and to get five early wickets was an outstanding effort. But the those two guys got stuck in and they've put together a great partnership."
