REACTION: Surrey CCC v Lancashire CCC Day Two

Find out what Mark Footitt and Shivnarine Chanderpaul said following Day Two of the Specsavers County Championship fixture between Lancashire CCC and Surrey CCC.

Lancashire who had a difficult start to their opening innings fought their way back into the game with Jordan Clark (140) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (182) both helping the Red Rose rebuild to post an innings score of 470.

Lancashire will head into Day Three 358 runs ahead of the hosts who have eight wickets remaining thanks to Kyle Jarvis (Scott Borthwick) and Jordan Clark (Mark Stoneman).

Surrey CCC bowler, Mark Footit

Surrey's leading wicket-taker Mark Footitt said: "It's a great batting pitch and with a small boundary one side there's hardly any margin for error. We felt that, despite Chiv's efforts, we did well to keep them under 500.

"It's nice to get another five-for but a lot of it's also down to the other guys maintaining pressure down the other end.

"Chiv's frustrating to bowl at and is still a world-class player. He plays the off stump line so well and offers you very little opportunity. We may have to come up with some different plans for him second time around."

After eight hours at the crease and picking up a thigh strain, Chanderpaul was looking forward to a massage and some overnight rest.

"It was good to get in and score big after being run out in my last match," said the 42-year-old.

"It's always a good feeling to score big hundreds but better still in England, early in the season when it's always such a challenge.

"Surrey bowled in good areas on the first morning and we had to work hard after that. I had good partnerships with Ryan McLaren and Jordan Clark and we're able to stretch our innings as far as we did and, in the end, put up a decent total."
