Our weekly roundup of the latest news from Lancashire County Cricket Club. Here is what was in the news this week.

Dane Vilas and Shivnarine Chanderpaul sign for LCCC

Earlier today, we announced two new signings to the Lancashire CCC squad - Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Dane Vilas.

The Club’s new experienced signings will complement a young and talented group of players at Emirates Old Trafford, of whom four made their First Class debuts in 2016. Liam Livingstone (23) and Rob Jones (21) both went on to hit maiden first class centuries, whilst Matthew Parkinson (20) took a five-for on debut against Warwickshire and Saqib Mahmood (19), who made his first class debut against Hampshire, has also featured for in the NatWest T20 Blast on several occasions in 2016.

Haseeb Hameed named in MCC squad

Lancashire batsman Haseeb Hameed will represent Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in the 2017 Champion County match in Abu Dhabi on Sunday 26th March.

The young England player has been named as part of the team which will take on Middlesex in the annual, four-day curtain raiser for the English county season.

Tom Smith retires from cricket

This week, Tom Smith announced his retirement from professional cricket following a recurring back injury.

Smith made 107 First Class appearances for the Club hitting 8,790 runs, including three centuries as well as taking 241 wickets. The all-rounder also played in 96 T20 and 73 List A fixtures for Lancashire Lightning in his career.

Buttler named in England squad

Lancashire wicket-keeper Jos Buttler has been named in the England squad for the West Indies One-Day International Tour.

England National Cricket Selectors have named the 14-man squad for the tour of the Caribbean where they will contest a three-match One-Day International series against West Indies starting in March in Antigua.

Paul Allott on Glen Chapple appointment

Paul Allott recently caught up with Lancashire Cricket TV to talk about the recent appointment of Glen Chapple as Head Coach and Mark Chilton as Assistant Head Coach.

Paul Allott, who now serves the cricket club as a Board Member, represented the Red Rose for over 14 years and believes that Chapple is the perfect man to lead Lancashire.
