Brown hits century in Dubai on Day Two

Karl Brown (161*) hit his highest ever professional score on Day Two of Lancashire's two-day red ball fixture against the UAE National Team at the ICC Academy.

Lancashire, resuming on 188/4, lost two early wickets in the form of Danny Lamb (11) and Stephen Parry (0) by spinner Mufti to leave Glen Chapple's side on 204/6.

Brown continued his form from the previous day and hit early boundaries to keep the UAE bowlers on the back foot.

The Lancashire batsman went to his century off 142 deliveries and he pushed on after he reached three figures.

Brown was well supported by Tom Bailey (22) who hit two fours and two maximums in his innings as the pair put on 48 for the eighth wicket.

Bailey was caught behind, but Graham Onions played positively. Brown then reached his 150 off 180 balls and the pair came off for lunch.

SCORECARD

Brown (161*) retired at the lunch break with George Lavelle taking his place. Lavelle hit a four and a six but was dismissed for 20 with Onions unbeaten on 36.

In the UAE's second innings, the hosts' opening pair put on 31 for the first wicket before Chris Sanders struck. The 19 year-old took a second wicket in his next over to leave the UAE 42/2.

UAE put on 50 for the third wicket but Arron Lilley came into the attach and made two quick breakthroughs for the Lancashire to leave the hosts 92/4.

UAE Captain Qasim played nicely for an unbeaten 46 and Steven Croft took the final wicket of the day as Mufti was caught well by Rob Jones.

The players shook hands at 4:30pm on a hot afternoon in Dubai.

Lancashire are in action on Wednesday for the final fixture of pre-season tour against Glamorgan in a second red ball two-day fixture at the ICC Academy.
