Brown shines as Second XI edge out Warwickshire
Lancashire Second XI beat Warwickshire twice in tight T20 clashes
Lancashire Second XI twice came out on top as they contested two close T20 matches with Warwickshire at Westhoughtion CC.
Karl Brown was the top Red Rose scorer in both matches while the bowling attack held their nerve to narrowly restrict the Bears batsmen.
Lancashire were asked to bat in the first match and laboured to 128/6 from their 20 overs.
The top three of Brown (35), Ed Fluck (22) and Josh Bohannon (23) all made starts, but the home side lost regular wickets throughout the middle order.
James Faulkner (1/23) made the perfect start with the ball as they looked to defend their low total, dismissing Bears opener Ed Pollock without scoring in just the second ball of the innings.
Warwickshire's batsmen struggled to get going as Jack Morley (2/26) and Bohannon (2/22) bowled superbly during the middle overs as Lancashire recorded a three run victory.
In the second T20 of the day, Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat - openers Brown (58) and Fluck (52) cashed in, sharing an opening stand of 117 as both passed fifty.
By the time Bohannon (27) and Jamie Crawley (22) added some quick runs at the back end of the innings, the Red Rose had reached 187/7 from their 20 overs.
The Bears made a positive start to their chase as Pollock (76) and Andrew Umeed put on 120 for the second wicket.
However some tight death bowling from Bohannon (1/24) and Liam Hurt (1/42) restricted the visitors scoring, who came up four runs short of their target - despite Umeed finishing unbeaten on 67.
