Dudley shines for Lancashire Cricket Academy

Lancashire Cricket Academy and Warwickshire Academy won a match each when the pair clashed in two T20’s at Neston Cricket Club.

The Red Rose won the toss in the opening game, elected to bat first and got off to a flyer through openers Jamie Crawley (37) and Connor Dudley (53) who set their side on the way to 149/4 from 20 overs.

Louis Botes shone with the ball during the Warwickshire reply, taking 3 for 23, but couldn’t stop the visitors from reaching their target with two overs remaining thanks to skipper Robert Yates’ 49.

The roles were reversed for the second match as Warwickshire won the toss and chose to have a bat on a excellent surface.

Lancashire spinners Jack Morley and Harry Newton (both 1/17) did an excellent job to slow the scoring during the middle overs as the visitors were restricted to 151/6 from their 20 overs.

Once again Dudley got Lancashire off to a lightning start with the bat, striking 55 from 26 balls, including six sixes.

It was then left to Captain George Lavelle to see his side home, scoring an unbeaten 56 as the Red Rose reached their total with eight balls to spare.
