James Anderson to return for Lancashire Second XI
England seamer James Anderson will make his return to competitive cricket for Lancashire second XI in a three-day match against Nottinghamshire at Emirates Old Trafford starting on July 15.
Anderson, who has not played since the second Test victory over Pakistan on June 3, has spent the past month rehabilitating a long-standing right shoulder injury and returned to bowling working with Lancashire and England staff in the past seven days.
As part of his plan, ahead of the first Specsavers Test against India starting on August 1, he will play for Lancashire seconds against Nottinghamshire and the Roses match in the Specsavers County Championship Division One match against Yorkshire at Emirates Old Trafford starting on July 22.
The Second XI fixture will tie into the Club's Bails and Ales festival, which includes Lancashire Lightning's Vitality Blast T20 fixture against Derbyshire on Saturday July 14 and a screening of the FIFA World Cup Final which will take place in the Foster’s Fan Village on Sunday 15 July at Emirates Old Trafford.
Supported by Heineken, up to 20 beers will be available on the day, as well as a range of gins and soft drinks. Premium cask ales and craft beers will be available at Emirates Old Trafford from local Manchester breweries, such as JW Lees, Frederic Robinson’s and Joseph Holt, including Theakstons Lightfoot, Robinsons Trooper and JW Lees Manchester Pale Ale.
Lancashire all-rounder Steven Croft, will also have his own pale ale available.
