Lancashire Women start with win
Lancashire Women kicked off their defence of the Royal London Women's One-Day Cup with a convincing 10 wicket win against Middlesex at Mill Hill School.
In her first match as Captain, Eve Jones won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Following a solid start by Middlesex opening pair Naomi Dattani and Natasha Miles, Lancashire made the breakthrough with the score on 42 through Sophie Ecclestone (2/14).
The home side continued to make steady progress with Fran Wilson (15) and Beth Morgan (15), before collapsing from 101/5 to 120 all out.
Kate Cross taking three for 21 to clean up the tail and in the process became the Red Rose's all time leading wicket taker in the competition.
Jones (61*) and opening partner Emma Lamb (45*) made short work of their run chase, romping to victory inside 27 overs without losing a wicket.
Jones struck 10 fours during her 61 from 96 balls, as Lancashire completed a stunning victory on the opening day.
