Lancashire name squad for pre-season tour

Lancashire name squad for pre-season tour

Lancashire squad named for Dubai

Lancashire Head Coach Glen Chapple has named a 16-man Lancashire squad for the Club’s two-week pre-season tour to Dubai.

The squad will fly out to Dubai on Thursday evening for a 13-day stay where Lancashire will play three one-day (50 over) fixtures are two 2-day games all hosted at the ICC Academy.

The England trio of James Anderson, Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone all miss out, whilst the quartet of Lancashire players including Alex Davies, Keaton Jennings, Saqib Mahmood and Matthew Parkinson, who are involved in the North-South series in the West Indies will not take part in the tour.

Josh Bohannon misses pre-season tour after sustaining a side strain bowling in Australia during his last round of Grade cricket before he was due to return home from Sydney.

Chris Sanders and wicket keeper George Lavelle will make their first trips away with the squad.

Pre-Season Tour Fixtures

Tuesday 20 March – Lancashire vs UAE Blues (50 over)

Wednesday 21 March – Lancashire vs Surrey (50 over)

Friday 23 March – Lancashire vs UAE XI (50 over)

Sunday 25 – Monday 26 March – Lancashire vs UAE (2 day red ball)

Wednesday 28 – Thursday 29 March – Lancashire vs Glamorgan (2 day red ball)

Glen Chapple said, “Pre-season tour is a really important part of our preparation for the season. We’re playing against some quality opposition which is important and the facilities at the ICC Academy are very good.

“It’s a bit different this year as we’re missing quite a few of the squad who are away with England and involved in the North-South series, but it’s a really good chance for some of the guys to impress, get some form under their belt and stake a claim for a starting spot in the side come the start of the season.

“We wanted to play some 50 over games too. In previous years, we’ve been involved in T20 competitions but getting in 100 overs as opposed to 40 is far better. We want to get in as much cricket as we can.

“It’s going to be tough for the players, but that’s what we want. We want to challenge them and make sure we hit the ground running when we’re back.”
