Lancashire Second XI suffer defeat to Yorkshire
Lancashire were beaten by 155 runs in their Second XI Trophy clash against Roses rivals Yorkshire, at Liverpool Cricket Club.
After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, the Red Rose made the perfect start, three early wickets for pick of the bowlers Toby Lester (3/35), reducing Yorkshire to 8/3 inside the first four overs.
Azeem Rafiq (60) and Andrew Hodd (18) started the rebuilding process, but the visitors continued to lose wickets regularly throughout the middle order, with Danny Lamb (2/31) and Josh Bohannon (2/49) amongst the wickets.
An unbeaten ninth wicket partnership of 29 between Ed Barnes (35*) and Jared Warner (18*) saw Yorkshire reach 206/9 from their 50 overs.
Lancashire started poorly with the bat, losing openers Haseeb Hameed for just one and Karl Brown for five.
The Red Rose never recovered, and after stumbling to 33/5, lost the final five wickets for just 18 runs, with only Rob Jones (11) reaching double figures.
The wickets were shared around for the visitors with all five bowlers taking two apiece, James Wainman taking two for 13 from his five overs set the tone, as Lancashire were bowled out for 51 in 20.3 overs.
