Lancashire Thunder coaching team confirmed

Staff confirmed for 2018 Kia Super League

The coaching team for Lancashire Thunder's third campaign in the Kia Super League has now been finalised following the appointment of Alex Blackwell as Head Coach.

Stephen Titchard, the Lancashire Cricket Performance Manager, will continue to work with the squad and help Blackwell oversee the programme to ensure continuity of the work already in place at Emirates Old Trafford.

Jen Barden returns to the coaching team, having missed the 2017 competition during her maternity leave and provides a natural link to the Regional Development Centre and the progression of young players into the senior squad.

Dan Atkinson, the Lancashire Women's coach who oversaw a domestic double win in 2017, joins the team for the first time and will also provide a natural link between the county game and the KSL.

Chris Chambers continues in his coaching role with a focus on fielding and Garry Morgan, who works with the Lancashire Second XI, will join the team in the role of Performance Analyst.

There will be no change to the medical support with Christina Carr continuing to provide her expertise around strength and conditioning, while Jenny Cross will continue as team physio.

Alex Blackwell said, “I’m really pleased with the coaching staff that I have around me for this year’s Kia Super League. I met up everyone when I was in England last month and was really impressed with what I saw.

“We’ve brought Dan Atkinson into the coaching staff who works with a lot of the Lancashire Thunder players in county cricket. He knows them well and knows what makes them tick so that’s important, particularly with myself being new to the group.

“We now have everything in place with the full squad and coaching staff and I can’t wait to get the group together next week to press on with our plans ahead of this year’s Kia Super League.”

Lancashire Thunder will kick off their KSL campaign against Loughborough Lightning at Southport and Birkdale Cricket Club on Sunday 22 July.
