Live stream success for Lancashire in 2018

Live stream success for Lancashire in 2018

Over 50,000 hours were watched of Lancashire's home games this season

Cricket supporters watched more than 50,000 hours of Lancashire’s domestic home fixtures this summer via a live stream, hosted on the Club’s website, in association with Hilton Garden Inn.

The Club, for the first time, provided a free live stream for non-televised Specsavers County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup fixtures which was made accessible on lancashirecricket.co.uk, accompanied by an improved and enhanced match centre, which included video clips of all the key moments throughout the game. The live stream was free of charge and can be watched on PC, Mobile, Tablet and Games Consoles.

Eight other Lancashire fixtures were broadcast live on Sky, including seven in the side’s run to Vitality Blast Finals Day, one Royal London One-Day Cup fixture against Nottinghamshire at Emirates Old Trafford, as well as three Lancashire Thunder fixtures in the Kia Super League.

In total, over 170,000 viewers watched the Club’s live stream for home fixtures at Emirates Old Trafford which was unavailable to view anywhere else. It equated to a total viewing time of well over 3 million minutes. The live stream was synced up with BBC Lancashire’s ball-by-ball commentary with Scott Read with a scorecard, provided by the ECB’s official data supplier, Opta.

Lancashire’s Royal London One-Day Cup clash against Yorkshire at Emirates Old Trafford was the most viewed stream in one day with over 25,000 viewers.

In addition to the viewers on the live stream, the club continued the real time clips both on the Club’s Twitter account and website, highlights and instant match reports to ensure more people than ever before saw Lancashire play cricket this summer.

The Club hopes to extend the live stream coverage next year with non-televised Vitality Blast and Kia Super League fixtures, Lancashire’s home outground games and any Second XI fixtures played at Emirates Old Trafford.
