The fixture, which has grown significantly in recent years from an attendance of 12,036 in 2013 to a then-record crowd of 19,961 last year, will see a 22,000+ crowd at Emirates Old Trafford tonight to watch two teams packed out with internationals including Jos Buttler, Keaton Jennings, Liam Livingstone and James Faulkner for Lancashire Lightning and Joe Root, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid and Kane Williamson for Yorkshire Vikings.

This evening’s Vitality Blast fixture follows on from Emirates Old Trafford’s two internationals already this summer as Australia and India played in-front of full houses in Manchester. England’s Royal London One-Day International against Australia saw a capacity crowd of 23,504 (highest attendance of the ODI series) before the India Vitality International T20 was watched by 23,002 supporters.

Daniel Gidney, Lancashire’s Chief Executive, said: “The Game of Roses fixture is the most highly anticipated domestic game in the English cricketing calendar and it’s a game that continues to grow year-on-year.

“This is going to be the biggest ever attended domestic fixture hosted at Emirates Old Trafford and it promises to be a spectacular game with a number of England’s internationals, including Jos Buttler and Joe Root, being made available by the ECB. Who will be King of the North?”

“We continue to improve our matchday experience off the field too and we’re looking forward to welcoming back The Fraudsters, a local Manchester band, who will be playing live music after the game in the Fosters Fan Village.”

Lancashire Lightning’s remaining Vitality Blast home fixtures:

Leicestershire Foxes (Fancy Dress), Fri 3 Aug

Durham Jets, (School’s Out) Tue 7 Aug

Birmingham Bears (Friday Night LIVE), Fri 10 Aug
