Saqib Mahmood - Injury Update
Lancashire Cricket Club fast bowler Saqib Mahmood will be rested for the next four weeks after suffering a recurrence of a side strain injury that has ruled him out of selection throughout the current campaign.
The 21 year-old originally suffered the injury at the end of April in training and has since undergone an intensive period of treatment and rehabilitation with the Club’s medical team.
Mahmood returned to action in last week’s Second XI fixture against Warwickshire at Chester Broughton Hall and subsequently suffered a recurrence of the same injury. He will now be rested completely for the next four weeks to allow healing to occur, at which point he will be reviewed again by the medical team.
Lancashire Head Coach, Glen Chapple, said: “It is frustrating for Saqib to have suffered another injury set-back because he has worked incredibly hard over the last couple of months with the medical team to get into a position where he could return to action. It’s important he rests over the coming month before he starts his rehabilitation in August.”
Saqib Mahmood added: “It is of course disappointing to be missing cricket for Lancashire, but after resting for the next four weeks, I am determined to work hard to ensure I return to full fitness.”
