Second XI come out on top in T20 double header
Lancashire beat Northants twice at Emirates Old Trafford
Lancashire Second XI put in strong performances to defeat Northants in two hard fought T20 matches at Emirates Old Trafford on Monday.
Northants won the toss and chose to bat in the first match and their top three all hit fifties.
Liam Hurt (1/25) and Tom Bailey (1/41) were the only Lancashire wicket takers as the visitors reached 173/2 from 20 overs.
The Red Rose would have to bat well to chase their target down and they did just that as the outstanding Josh Bohannon struck a rapid century.
By the time Bohannon was dismissed for exactly 100 from 65 balls, he had blasted nine fours and four sixes to take his side to within eight runs of their target, with two overs remaining.
It was left to Haseeb Hameed (28*) and Brooke Guest (5*) to get Lancashire over the line, completing a seven wicket win with five balls to spare.
Northants decided to bat first again in the second match, but found it much tougher going this time around.
Stephen Parry took 4/19, Bailey 1/28, Hurt 1/22, Danny Lamb 1/28 and the economical Mark Watt went for just 19 runs from his four overs.
Northants were restricted to 117/7 from their 20 overs - a superb effort by the Red Rose bowling attack.
Karl Brown (19) and Bohannon (42) got Lancashire off to the perfect start in their run chase, before Guest (24*) saw his side home to a six wicket win inside 15 overs.
