Squad named for Somerset clash

A 14 man squad has been named for Lancashire's next Specsavers County Championship against Somerset at Taunton, starting tomorrow.

Brooke Guest, Karl Brown and Liam Hurt are all named in the squad, whilst Rob Jones, Haseeb Hameed and Shiv Chanderpaul miss out.

Jordan Clark is ruled out due to a tight hamstring.

Liam Livingstone returns to the Lancashire squad for the first time since breaking his left thumb against Yorkshire in the Specsavers County Championship at Emirates Old Trafford. He played club cricket for Cheadle CC at the weekend and hit a stunning unbeaten double century. The 25-year-old faced just 125 balls as Cheadle racked up 354 for three declared in 40 overs, clattering 19 boundaries and clearing the ropes on 13 occasions.

Lancashire come into the game on the back of an impressive victory over Worcestershire at Southport last week as they chased down 314 to win by four wickets. The Red Rose’s second win from 11 matches this season has taken them out of the bottom two places at the expense of Yorkshire.

Lancashire are fifth in the table, two points clear of the bottom two places, whilst Somerset are second.
