Tickets on general sale for Game of Roses clash
Tickets have gone on general sale this morning for Lancashire Lightning’s home T20 Blast fixture against Roses rivals Yorkshire Vikings at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday 20 July.
The Game of Roses clash is the most highly anticipated domestic fixture in England and has previously sold out weeks in advance of the fixture taking place over the last four consecutive years.
Last year’s fixture was played in-front of the biggest ever attendance in the NatWest T20 Blast (excluding Finals Day) outside of London with 19,691 supporters watching at Emirates Old Trafford and this year’s fixture will see an even bigger capacity.
Tickets for the fixture are priced from £20 for adults and from £5 for children (U18) and can be bought from the Ticket and Membership Office, by telephone (08444 999 666*) or online.
Lancashire Captain Liam Livingstone, talking about the Roses rivalry, said, “It is the biggest game of the season and one that you always look for when the fixtures are first released.
“The atmosphere is incredible during the Roses games at Emirates Old Trafford and it’s as close as you’re going to get to international cricket.
“The players love playing in these fixtures. I’ve been lucky enough to play in a few of these games over the last couple of years and they have been amazing.”
Glen Chapple’s side, who are boosted by the return of fan-favourite James Faulkner having signed a two-year T20 contract with the Club last month, as well as Australian bowler Joe Mennie, will be looking to reach the Club’s seventh Finals Day since 2003 and in search of a second T20 Blast title after the 2015 triumph at Edgbaston.
Daniel Gidney, Chief Executive at Lancashire Cricket Club, said, “The Game of Roses fixture is our biggest fixture of the season and it is a game we treat exactly the same as internationals at Emirates Old Trafford.
“The atmosphere gets better and better every year and the fact that we’ve sold the fixture out over the last four years shows its popularity with cricket supporters in the North West.
“It is a game that we again expect to sell out this summer, with an even bigger capacity, so we urge supporters to book their tickets early to avoid disappointment!”
Please note that if your Membership includes the T20 Blast competition (One-Day, Traditional Plus, Lancaster and Red Rose) you will need to reserve your seat. You will then be issued with a complimentary paper ticket as your Membership cards will not be activated for this fixture.
