Toby Lester and Danny Lamb sign new contracts

Lancashire duo sign new contracts

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that Toby Lester and Danny Lamb have signed new two-year contract extensions with the Club which will see the pair remain at Emirates Old Trafford until at least the end of the 2020 season.

25-year-old Lester, who is spending his winter down under with North Sydney Cricket Club, impressed during the Club’s T20 campaign this season, as Lancashire Lightning reached Vitality Blast Finals Day.

The left-arm seamer picked up 15 wickets at an average of just 22, including a career best four for 25 during the win over Derbyshire Falcons at Emirates Old Trafford in the Vitality Blast.

Lester said, “I am very pleased to have signed a new contract with the Red Rose.

“The Club has shown great faith in me throughout my development and have been crucial to my progress as a cricketer. It is exciting to be part of this young and talented squad.

“To play a significant role in the run to Finals Day this year was brilliant for me and I hope to build on those experiences over the next couple of years.”

Preston-born all-rounder Lamb, made his first-class debut for the Club this summer after breaking into the white ball sides back in 2017.

The 23 year-old made six appearances in this year’s Vitality Blast helping Lancashire Lightning reach Finals Day at Edgbaston, taking five wickets.

Lamb commented, “Playing cricket for Lancashire is all I've ever wanted to do and I am delighted to have signed a new contract with the Club.

“I feel like my game has progressed well over the past 12 months and it was a great feeling to make my first-class debut at Worcester and to also play a role in the Vitality Blast.

"We've got a good core of young players in the squad and hopefully we can push on next year as a team and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.”

Lancashire Director of Cricket, Paul Allott added: “It is great news that Toby and Danny have committed their futures to the Club.

“We were impressed with the skills and character they demonstrated during this year’s Vitality Blast campaign and both have now been given the platform to continue their development and establish themselves as first team players.”
