Two Roses T20 wins for Lancashire Second XI
Second XI defeat Yorkshire in two T20 matches
Lancashire Second XI came out on top with two convincing victories in their T20 matches against Roses rivals Yorkshire, at Harrogate CC yesterday.
The Red Rose won the toss in the first fixture and elected to bat and Karl Brown got his side off to a flying start.
Brown hit a quickfire 75 from 55 balls, striking nine fours and two sixes.
The 30-year-old was well supported by Haseeb Hameed (24) and Rob Jones (20) as Lancashire posted 155/6 from their 20 overs.
In response Yorkshire made a bright start and reached 50/2, before Toby Lester (3/21) and spinner Tom Hartley (3/26) got amongst the wickets during the middle overs.
Yorkshire never looked like reaching their target as the Red Rose bowlers kept it tight to register economical figures, as their opponents finished 31 runs short.
In the second game of the day, Yorkshire won the toss and decided to have a bat first.
Opener Bilal Anjam's 68 was the only meaningful score of the innings, as Hartley once again caused problems, taking 3/24 from his four overs.
Liam Hurt (2/21) and Lester (2/27) helped their side to restrict the hosts to 145/9 after they had made a quick start.
Lancashire lost Brown for 11 early on in the run chase, but a superb second wicket partnership of 107 followed between Josh Bohannon and Brooke Guest.
By the time Guest was dismissed for 40, the visitors required just seven for victory.
Bohannon duly added the winning runs to finish on 89 not out from just 56 balls, including nine fours and two sixes as Lancashire completed an eight wicket win with more than three overs to spare.
