Vilas satisfied with opening day's work
Vilas reflects on Day One against Hampshire
Lancashire batsman Dane Vilas reflects on the opening day from the Ageas Bowl as Hampshire were bowled out for 187, before the visitors closed on 123/4.
“The day went according to play. We bowled them out before tea and then got in and got some nice runs on the board.
“It was tough losing Keats with a few overs to go and then Parry the night watchman but I think we are pretty happy with the way it went.
Vilas heaped praise on Lancashire bowler Tom Bailey after he took his 60th first class wicket of the season on the opening day against Hampshire.
“Bails has carried on where he left off and it was nice to see Saqib back in the wickets after a tough season being injured – it was nice to see him bowling.
“Bailey is incredible, he just wants to bowl. He always picks up a few wickets for not very many runs. He has had a great season and I think this is a turning point in his career.
“We are aware of the situation and that there is a tiny percentage that we can still stay up, but anything can happen in cricket.
“We would be gutted it Notts fell short and we didn’t do the business. It has been a season of missed opportunities and that could be another missed opportunity.
“We just want to win the game.”
